RI logoRotary’s Commitment to Alzheimer’s Research

At every Rotary Meeting in North and South Carolina as well as Georgia, Rotarians collect coins for the CART Fund (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust). The purpose of the CART fund is to collect and provide dollars for leading edge research for the cure/prevention of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It started in 1996 with Rotarians voluntarily empting their pockets and purses of change at weekly meetings.

In 2014 The Cart Fund provided the following grants for research of dementia:

Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis:
Nigel J. Cairns, PhD, FRCPath ($250,000)

Boston University School of Medicine:
Tsuneya Ikezu, MD, PhD ($100,000)
